Quick Installation¶
We provide an automated installation script for Ubuntu/Debian systems:
curl -O https://gitlab.inria.fr/jfraire/florasat/-/raw/main/fresh_install.sh
chmod +x fresh_install.sh
bash fresh_install.sh
This script will:
- Download and install OMNeT++ 6.3.0
- Install all system dependencies
- Set up Python environment with required packages
- Clone the FLoRaSat repository
- Compile everything in release mode
The installation will be available at ~/omnetpp-6.3.0/workspace/florasat
Manual Installation¶
If you prefer manual installation or need a different OMNeT++ version:
1. Install OMNeT++¶
# Download OMNeT++
wget https://github.com/omnetpp/omnetpp/releases/download/omnetpp-6.3.0/omnetpp-6.3.0-linux-x86_64.tgz
tar xvfz omnetpp-6.3.0-linux-x86_64.tgz
cd omnetpp-6.3.0
# Install dependencies
sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y \
make diffutils pkg-config ccache clang lld gdb lldb \
bison flex perl sed gawk python3 python3-pip python3-venv python3-dev \
libxml2-dev zlib1g-dev doxygen graphviz xdg-utils libdw-dev \
qt6-base-dev qt6-base-dev-tools qmake6 libqt6svg6 \
qt6-wayland libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0 \
libopenscenegraph-dev libssl-dev
# Configure and build
source setenv
./configure
make -j$(nproc)
2. Clone FloRaSat¶
mkdir -p ~/omnetpp-6.3.0/workspace
cd ~/omnetpp-6.3.0/workspace
git clone https://gitlab.inria.fr/jfraire/florasat florasat
cd florasat
3. Install Python dependencies¶
Import the simulator into OMNeT++¶
Install INET¶
To open the GUI, go to the OMNeT++ installation directory and run:
On first launch, a pop-up offers two options: install INET and import the default simulations. Uncheck the default simulations if you like, but keep INET selected. OMNeT++ will install version 4.5 and start compiling automatically — this can take up to 30 minutes depending on your machine.
If the pop-up does not appear, install INET manually via Help >> Install Simulation Models... and select INET 4.5.
Import FLoRaSat¶
-
In OMNeT++, go to File >> Import... >> General >> Existing Projects into Workspace and select the
florasatfolder. -
Right-click the florasat project, go to Properties, and under Project References select inet4.5 (only).
Next Steps¶
- See Quick Start to verify the installation and run your first simulation
- See Architecture Overview to understand the project structure
