Output & Results

After a simulation run, results are written to the results/ folder inside your scenario directory.

Output File Types

File Description
*.sca Scalar results — one summary value per statistic per run
*.vec Vector results — time-series of recorded values
*.vci Vector index — index file for fast access to .vec data

Exporting Results

OMNeT++ ships with opp_scavetool, a command-line tool for exporting simulation results to CSV:

# Export all scalar results from a run to CSV
opp_scavetool export -f "results/*.sca" -o results.csv

# Export vector results
opp_scavetool export -f "results/*.vec" -o vectors.csv

Reading Results with Python

import pandas as pd

df = pd.read_csv("results.csv")
print(df[["name", "value"]].head(20))

The exact statistic names depend on your .ini configuration. Check the results/*.sca file headers for the full list recorded in your run.

Common Metrics

Depending on your configuration, FLoRaSat records:

  • Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) — fraction of packets successfully received at a ground station
  • End-to-end delay — time from transmission to reception
  • Collision count — number of packets dropped due to concurrent reception at a satellite
  • Transmission count — number of physical transmissions per packet (from the MAC layer)

Jupyter Notebooks

The simulation_analysis/ directory contains Jupyter notebooks for common post-processing tasks: aggregating scalar results across parameter sweeps, plotting PDR vs. Ntx curves, and computing visibility window statistics.
